There are only two people I still regularly write letters to (and receive them in return): my Grandad in Bruton, and my friend Pauline in Berlin. Once upon a time, before two small children and a small business there were more, and I have a giant green steamer trunk in the studio overflowing with treasured correspondence, ostensibly for me to re-read in my old age! Unfortunately, given I am not one of the greatest writers of all time, I doubt any hold a candle to the wonderful letters sent by Roald Dahl to his Mama which I am listening to on Radio 4 whilst daubing in the studio today, but it's a compelling incentive to try to put pen to paper more often...(Image from The Telegraph of Roald Dahl in his writing shed)
