You Are What You Give: Christmas Edition with... Kate & Sarah of Common Room

You Are What You Give: Christmas Edition with... Kate & Sarah of Common Room
This dynamic duo have been running Common Room since 2015, commissioning contemporary artists to create original wallpapers and producing an annual archival collection that commemorates the great history of artist wallpapers. Their products are designed to challenge and excite, just like every great artwork. Kate is a great friend of mine so I can say from happy experience that she is a very gifted giver, so I have invited her & Sarah to share their inspirational wish list with us all…

1. This one needs no introduction. Just a daily reminder of the power of being a woman artist… but really to fight for more than the dishes. Guerilla Girls Tea towel, Tate £25

2. Obsessed with this scent and its bottle -  a sculpture in its own right. Sunday of London Afar Perfume, £110

3.  A fun hook, as wobbly as the world is right now. It will hopefully keep your garms nice and straight though... Maud Vaughan Meander Hook, £80

4. We love everything about kankan; their philosophy, their soap, and them! Kankan gift set, £49.00

5. We've always loved Anna's mark-making but also how this is a question, not an answer. Gorgeous in the A1 size.
Anna Chapman Parker What Happens When Nothing Happens print, £160

6. A little disclaimer here - one of us has already read this but would happily read it over and over. It's a complete gift of a book full of the most generous ideas and observations on creativity in all its forms. We will be giving it to anyone we can this Christmas. The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin, £23.75

7. The next best thing to owning a William Kentridge film. A clever object that has existed in many forms and had many lives. Hoping it could be a reminder to make the most of ours. And to drink lots of tea. William Kentridge Cup and Saucer, £30

8. This one has to be top of our wish list. Shame you can't buy it. World Peace: PRICELESS! (Editor's note: a shame indeed, but you could give our Dove print instead, with 100% of profits donated to Save the Children & Doctors Without Borders)
