You Are What You Give (Christmas Edition) with... Lucy Bright

Never was a person more aptly named, Lucy is the brightest and most brilliant friend; no interaction with her leaves you feeling anything less than glowing. She is a world-renowned music supervisor, a profession I profess to not knowing even existed before I was lucky enough to make her acquaintance, a magical musical matchmaker: in her head she…holds the sonic library needed to match the right track to any movie scene”, The Gentlewoman.

Lucy started out at Mute Records working with artists such as Nick Cave and Depeche Mode, before moving to Warner Classics for six years, then leaving to manage composer Michael Nyman.  Her first credit as a music supervisor was on Samantha Morton’s directorial debut The Unloved, and recent film projects include Aftersun and Tár.  In 2020 she launched her own music publishing company, Bright Notion Music.

She says:
“Music can’t make a bad film good, but it can hide a multitude of sins, and when it really works, it’s like alchemy.”

Thank you Lucy, for sharing your Christmas wish list!
