You Are What You Give (Valentine's Edition) with Cressida Jamieson

Introducing fashion's favourite bespoke embroiderer and designer, Cressida Jamieson. Previously a trained florist, she is known for her botanical motifs and highly romantic style (embodied by her Love Note hankie). Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the FT, Sunday Times Style, and on the cover of ES Magazine and Grazia, and she has worked with brands including Liberty, Raey, Yolke and Rixo. She and I recently collaborated on these illustrations to celebrate her Celestial Skies collection.
Cressida, what is the most romantic gift you’ve ever received?
When I worked as a florist, I never received flowers as a gift as everyone just assumed I wouldn't want them, but it was and is still my favourite thing to be given. One year on 13th February there was a knock on the door and the most beautiful bouquet I've ever received was delivered from Scarlet & Violet. My husband had got the date wrong for Valentine's Day, but in a funny way it made it even more romantic as I wasn't expecting to receive flowers at all, and especially not on that day!

And the most romantic gift you’ve given?
I once filled a little notebook for my husband which listed all the reasons why I love him. It was very lo-fi, just photos printed out very badly on my cheap printer, which I then made collages with and scribbled notes around. But he still says it's the best present he's ever received, so it worked its magic!
What is the most romantic commission you have undertaken?
I'm a hopeless romantic, so I love it when I receive a really thoughtful and romantic commission. I love any hidden message request, and my favourite is probably the bluebells secretly embroidered into the cape of a bridal gown, as the sweetest nod to the bluebell field the couple got engaged in.
