You Are What You Give... with Rosie McGuinness
Rosie McGuinness is an artist, illustrator and textile designer based in London. I love her wish list, which you are about to read, almost as much as I love her work, and was absolutely delighted that she agreed to be the next in our You Are What You Give interview series...
What's the best Christmas gift you have given or received?
"My boyfriend and I have got into the habit of booking a weekend somewhere as our gift to one another, getting away early in the new year. A few days together in Paris is always a good idea, Venice is also on the wishlist..."
If you could pick one Scribble & Daub product this year, what would it be?
"I love this Mimosa print - festive and cheerful pops of yellow, with a nod to the new year and coming Spring."
Rosie's Christmas Wish List...
A case of Domain Hugo from £54 at 161 "One of my favourite sparkling wines, made in the Champagne style in Wiltshire, farmed organically / biodynamically. A bottle for a friend or a case for yourself to share with guests over the festive period would go down a treat."
A meal at Quality Wines- vouchers from £20 "One of the best spots for a long and merry lunch or dinner - always fantastic food from chef Nick Bramham, a great wine list, and the best front of house in town."
Anything and everything from Azur. Copper plissé satin-silk scrunchie, 85 Euros "I had the pleasure of visiting the Azur Atelier in Marseille this summer, everything they make is effortlessly beautiful, and made using natural dyes."
Argot Elipse Vase, £90 from Turn Shop "Love these 3D printed vases - elegant classical shapes made from locally sourced 100% polylactic acid sustainably derived from corn starch."
Rio Cinema membership from £15 and archive book £26 "Support London's oldest community-led not for profit charity cinema in return for free tickets, discounts, and fantastic members events. Also a great gift is the Rio Tape / Slide Archive book - radical community photography in Hackney in the 1980s. Protests and activism, street scenes, work, play, and Dalston style."
Workshops with Eye to Pencil from £10 "A great, varied, and inspiring programme of artist-led workshops in a lovely studio on Exmouth market."
Daisy Jumper, £60 from Head in the Clouds Norwich "Very 90s, very jolly, and very warm."
Gift card, £25 from Tender Books "Something for everybody, with a superb selection of art, design, and photography books, zines, artist prints and more."
Many things of use from Objects of Use - particularly the stationery
"Useful and satisfying tools and things for the home, garden, and office."
Jelly Mules, £25 from Wolf & Gypsy "I love these Jellies, and plastic sandals in general - a great gift with thoughts of the coming summer... walk straight into the sea."
Carnelian mermaid choker, $650 from Sophie Buhai "For anyone feeling flush and particularly generous - stunning, simple, and bold pieces from Sophie Buhai."
Modernist Housing Walking and Cycling Guides from £5.50 "These guides take you around various neighbourhoods, pointing out great examples of modernist architecture that you may not have otherwise noticed. A small donation from each guide sold goes to the charity Shelter."
Christmas Candlelight tour at Dennis Severs house, £25 "The Silent Night candlelight evenings are very special - an unguided tour through the house, without speaking, at your own pace. Hear the clocks tick and fires crackle, smell the festive kitchen and candles, all invoking Christmases through the years at 18 Folgate St, Spitalfields. Follow with a bite at St John Bread and Wine just around the corner."
Scented matches 16 Euros from Buly 1803 "Excellent stocking fillers. Scented festive matches, beautifully packaged."
